This will undoubtedly be on the minds of the Flyers players. The Islanders have begun the season relatively slowly, at just , and have lost three in a row after starting the season The issue for them so far, much like was expected, is scoring goals.
Carter Hart got back on track with a fine showing on Thursday, so hopefully he continues this tonight. Despite the stars not looking their best at times, the depth of this team has come through more often than not in the early going.
The fourth line was a menace in the second Devils game, and if this continues along with the stars beginning to find their rhythm, this team only becomes more dangerous. This could be quite the chippy game with tons of activity after the whistles, but time will tell. The always-entertaining Dan Saraceni of Lighthouse Hockey drops in to talk about the Islanders who are, depending on your connection to reality, either underperforming or performing just as you always expected. Dallas Stars -- Braden Holtby. Minnesota Wild -- Cam Talbot. Another goalie with an undefeated record to begin the year.
Talbot is with a 2. Not sensational numbers, but enough to do the trick. Nashville Predators -- Juuse Saros. All defense, no offense. Saros has a great 2. Louis Blues -- Jordan Binnington. Three games, three wins for Binnington to start the season. The numbers are solid -- 2.
Winnipeg Jets -- Connor Hellebuyck. Another day, another year where Hellebuyck is getting hung out to dry. Anyone else in net and those numbers are a lot worse. Anaheim Ducks -- John Gibson. Anthony Stolarz was while Gibson was sidelined, giving up seven goals in two games. Gibson has a record with a 2. Calgary Flames -- Jacob Markstrom.
Markstrom is one of just two goalies to record a shutout this season. He made 33 saves to blank the Red Wings last time out. It was his first win of the season, as he moved to with a 2. Edmonton Oilers -- Mike Smith. Smith had two great starts to the season, giving up just two goals in each before getting yanked last time out.
He allowed four goals on just 15 shots before getting the hook. His GAA is a 3. Los Angeles Kings -- Cal Petersen. Two games, two goals allowed in each for Petersen. The young goalie has one win and one loss in those games.
